We were asked to provide shading and solar heat gain solutions for this world-renowned art gallery in London’s West End. We worked closely with the client to ensure we achieved the delicate balance shading necessary for the building’s particular challenges.
80mm Motorised Rack-Arm System
In close consultation with the client we designed a custom system offering maximum control of solar heat gain and light over this large glazed roof area. The external louvre system was suitable for the existing structure of the building, while providing the client with the shading capabilities required. We designed, manufactured and installed this 80mm motorised Rack-Arm shading system, which was ideal for the gallery’s flexible space beneath.
Being an external system, solar heat gain can be controlled before the sun’s rays penetrated the glazing. The tilting louvres also assist in controlling ambient light levels. By remotely adjusting the louvre angle light levels can be varied down to almost blackout. A total of eight systems were installed either side of the glazed apex and are operated via radio control, either individually or as a group, giving complete flexibility. We provided the complete package including control system and all electrical installation requirements.
